Course Description

‘The art and science of using plant oils in treatments”

Aromatherapy is the use of pure essential oils to promote healing on all levels.  Aromatherapy is a truly holistic therapy taking into account the mind, body and spirit of the person as well as their lifestyle, personality and dietary habits.  A journey of healing through the use of essential oils for therapeutic uses ensures a treatment that is truly holistic.

In the past it was necessary to complete a Diploma in Holistic Massage in order to be able to apply for Diploma Aromatherapy.  We are now able to offer this course in a more cost effective and practical way.  The learner can now apply to do this course but they will also have to complete Anatomy Physiology and Business units in conjunction with Aromatherapy.


On successful completion of this course the learner will receive an I.T.E.C. Diploma in Aromatherapy.

Business & Professionalism

Aromatherapy involves the use of essential oils that are derived from plants flowers herbs, leaves, bark, resins, fruit.   Oils have many different properties and effects such as:  immune boosting, anti viral, calming, uplifting, sedative and can be used to treat both physical and emotional conditions. I.T.E.C. Examination, multiple choice questionnaire. Corrected and validated by the International Therapy Examination Council. A 3 hour multiple choice theory paper per course unit comprising of 50 questions on all aspects of the course.

A 1 hour practical exam with external examiner from I.T.E.C.

Exam fees are not included in the price of the course. Fees are approximately €150. This fee can fluctuate due to numbers taking exams.

Registration Fee

A registration fee is required to hold a place on the course. Once course has commenced Registration fees are non refundable.  In the exception of a course not commencing all registration fees will be refunded.


It is recommended that Learners should have achieved a level of education equivilent of Leaving Certificate prior to commencing the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy. However, exemptions may be made for adult returning to education with experience at home or in the workplace.

All students must present themselves in uniform for all practical classes.  Uniform consists of white tunic and black trousers.
